A Time to Gather

One of the great statements of the Scriptures is Genesis 12:12 where God tells Abram (Abraham) that He has blessed him to be a blessing to others. In other words, He has enlisted His chosen ones in His work. We get to show the mercy He has shown us. We get to show the compassion He has shown us. Not only do we get to show compassion and work in the mercy ministry of the Lord, but we are also called to do it joyfully and with passion:

"But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth" (1 John 3:17-18). John asks how we can claim to have the love of God in us, if we are not overflowing with generosity and charity?

As a way of encouraging  this lifestyle of stewardship of God's gifts, Hebron has partnered with Penn Hills Service Association and Military Connections to Gather food and supplies Sunday mornings, October 30, and November 6 & 13.

We are gathering non-perishable foods: cans of soup, pasta, peanut butter, jelly, canned vegetables, etc., for the Penn Hills Service Association.

For Military Connections we are gathering: granola bars, 5 Hour Energy, candy canes, mints & gum, pop-tarts, lollipops, Skittles, Starburst, Power Bars, single serve Kool-Aid, single serve powdered Gatorade, Slim Jims, individual bags of snacks, pretzels, chips, cookies & crackers, and chocolate candy.
So, when shopping in the next month, remember that we are called to minister to those that are struggling. We have the opportunity to show them the love and mercy of God by providing for their basic needs. We have the opportunity to show those serving our nation in our military that they are loved by God and by us.

Please bring these supplies with you to worship those 3 Sundays, and we will make sure Ed Hoover at PHSA and Summer Tissue at Military Connections, know that Hebron desires to be a place that God uses to show Himself to the world.
