Families gathered in the Barclay for the Family Night Lights Easter Extravaganza…The morning was filled with fun and laughter as families played games like – Peeps in a Nest, Peep Stack, Balloon Toss. Families also came together to sing praises and hear the Easter story. Below are some pictures from the morning…

A special thank you ...

To each of you who provided candy for the Easter Extravaganza. The kids were thrilled to get a treat bag filled with candy to take home with them,

To the Wednesday night Amazing Collection Grove who filled treat bags with candy,

To those who set up for the morning,

To the teens and adults who lead games and activities allowing families to have a morning of fun together,

To our host, Keith Balkey, and our storyteller, Steff Knabe, for leading our large group time allowing parents and kids to hear about Jesus’ death and resurrection together,

To everyone who cleaned up after us, including the Sunday morning set-up team that came Saturday morning!

Kids and parents are invited to this special edition of Family Night Lights - THE place where kids and parents come together to have fun and learn about Jesus. There will be games for families, candy, and prizes, too.  

The morning includes a 30-minute fun, interactive production that includes music, video, sketches, and comedy to talk about Jesus in an engaging and relevant way. Together parents and kids will hear the Easter story.  

Family Night Lights is open to people who don’t worship at Hebron. If you know a family that you have thought about inviting to Hebron, the Easter Extravaganza is the perfect time to invite them! It’s an easy way to share Jesus with your friends and to give them a glimpse of what Sunday morning looks like for their kids.

Children's Ministry

Families gathered for Family Night Lights February 3^rd.  Each family decorated a shirt and then went on a scavenger hunt in the Barclay Building. Following the scavenger hunt, families sang praises and learned together about February’s Life Application:  Love = Treating others the way you want to be treated. 

God created us with the capacity to love. Every time we choose to treat others the way we want to be treated we show others a glimpse into the perfect love God has for each and every one of us. 

“This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”  1 John 4:10

The first ever #playingforkeeps #everyweekmatters trophy was awarded to the Burkovich family. The purpose of the trophy is to encourage parents that what they are doing with their kids over time matters. As parents are intentional with the time they have in each phase, words become a series of messages that have the potential to guide someone in a different direction, love gives a kid value and worth, and fun breaks down walls and helps relationships go deeper.

If you couldn’t be there, we missed you and hope you can join us for our next FNL which is Saturday, April 8^th, 10am-Noon.  We will gather for the Easter Edition of Family Night Lights. 

Thanks to everybody who served on February 3^rd!

March Hang Time cards are online and in the literature racks. There are activities designed around 5 family values: Fight for the Heart, Widen the Circle, Create a Rhythm, Imagine the End, and Make It Personal. 

Below is the March “Widen the Circle” activity. 

What does it mean for a parent to “Widen the Circle?” It means parents become intentional about finding spiritual leaders and mentors for their kids; another adult who will say things that reflect what  they would say. The older kids get, the more important it is for them to have additional voices in their lives saying the same things as mom and dad but in a different way. 

March 9^th is National Popcorn Lover’s Day !

Pop some buttery goodness and make treat bags for a few special adults who are significant in your kid’s life. Decorate paper bags together or add a note that says “Popping by to say..” and ask your kids to add something they appreciate about each adult. Stick the note to the bag and drop it off. It’s even more fun to ring the doorbell and run!

Children's Ministry

At Hebron, we like to share stories of how God is moving—because we know HE is moving in the lives of children and adults.  Below is a text that a mom shared with her Preschooler’s Small Group Leader:

Mom:  Was the story today about "Jesus spitting in dirt to heal the blind man's eye"?

Small Group Leader:  Yes it was!!!

Mom:  Good! She's learning so much! It amazes me. My grandma had eye surgery and she asked if Jesus was going to heal her with mud too.

We are so thankful for our Small Group Leaders—for the way they pour into the lives of children and parents. They are the best!

It’s easy to get caught up in life outside the home. There are practices, games, and recitals. There are meetings, conference calls, and projects. But all of this activity can quickly wear us down.

Because your family is important to us, we want to give you some ideas on how to have some fun “Hang Time” with your kids in February. These activities are designed around 5 family values:

Fight For the Heart – Communicate in a style that gives the relationship value

Widen the Circle – Pursue strategic relationships for your kids

Create a Rhythm – Increase the quantity of quality times you spend together

Imagine the End – Focus your priorities on what matters most

Make it Personal – Put yourself first when it comes to personal growth

This is the place where kids bring their parents to learn about Jesus. We talk about God, Faith, and Life Applications. Life Applications are something God is doing inside of us to change the world around us.

Our fun, interactive, multimedia production uses music, video, live sketches, and comedy to talk about life applications in a high-energy, relevant and engaging way. The night includes a scavenger hunt and dessert!

Kids and Parents are encouraged to invite their friends to Family Night Lights.

 It’s an easy place to bring someone who doesn’t attend church or who hasn’t been to church for a while.

4 Distinct Areas, 1 Common Vision

A phase is a timeframe in a child’s life when you can leverage distinctive opportunities to influence their future. A parent has 936 weeks from the time a child is born until he/she turns 18 years old. We don’t want you to miss each critical phase of growing up.

There are four words that we want every parent, small group, and Grove leader to know that characterize each phase of a child’s life.

§ Embrace—Preschool

§ Engage – Elementary

§ Affirm – Middle School

§ Mobilize – High School

We believe that these four words – Embrace, Engage, Affirm, and Mobilize – will help keep parents and small group/Grove leaders focused during every phase of a child’s life. 

Hebron Kidz

Infant—5^th Grade

The vision of Hebron Kidz is that children can see and hear the Gospel so that they come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

These little ones are asking “Am I?” questions:

§ “Am I safe?”

§ “Am I able?”

§ “Am I ok?”

The best way to resolve a Preschooler’s relational questions is to consistently EMBRACE their physical needs.

Hebron’s mission with babies through Pre-Kindergarten, is to EMBRACE their physical needs of one-on-one attention, comfort, and care, so they know they are loved and safe. 

As we EMBRACE their physical needs, they experience God’s love, meet God’s family, and get their first impression of their heavenly Father.

§ Elementary School (Kindergarten—5^th grade)

Kindergarten—5^th Graders are asking “Do I have?” questions:

§ “Do I have your attention?” 

§ “Do I have what it takes?” 

§ “Do I have friends?” 

The best way to answer K-5th Graders relational questions is to ENGAGE in their interests. Hebron’s mission in Elementary School is to ENGAGE the interests of Elementary Children so they will discover how God’s story intersects with their story. As we ENGAGE in their interests it opens the door to help them know they can trust God, allows them the opportunity to experience God’s family, and to know Him personally through Jesus.  

Hebron Students

6^th—12^th Grade

The Hebron Student Ministry vision is “we believe that God will use Hebron Students to show Himself to the world.” All students are created in the image of God and are in need of seeing how the Gospel relates to them. We seek to leverage opportunities to teach, love, and come alongside our 11-18 year olds.

§ Middle School (6^th—8^th grade)

6^th—8^th graders are asking relational questions:

§ “Who do I like?’

§ “Who likes me?”

§ “Who am I?” 

The best way to answer a middles schooler’s relational questions is to AFFIRM their identity in Christ. Hebron’s mission in Middle School is to AFFIRM every Middle School student that they are created in God’s image. When we AFFIRM student’s identity in Christ, they gain stability and discover uniqueness. When we respond to Middle Schoolers in a loving manner, listening, encourage more specifically, and guide more patiently, we will influence them to stop and think rationally before they respond in the moment.  As we AFFIRM students they will start to own their own faith and value a faith community.

§ High School (9^th—12^th grade)

9^th-12^th graders are asking Where, Why, How, and What questions: 

§ “Where do I belong?”

§ “Why should I believe?”

§ “How can I matter?”

§  “What will I do?”

The best way to answer a High Schooler’s relational questions is to MOBILIZE their potential. Hebron’s mission in High School is to MOBILIZE student’s potential in their personal walk with Christ. As we teach students how to MOBILIZE their faith, it will help them find answers to their questions. We point them to the value of Christian community, help clarify their values, help refine skills for serving, and help them see the vision God has for their lives. As we MOBILIZE students they will pursue authentic faith and learn to discover what God’s direction is for them as they enter adulthood.  

936 Weeks… is the amount of time we (parents and leaders) have to leverage the biggest influence in a child’s life. We are working together to insure that every week matters, pointing children and students to Jesus. We are being intentional in sending 18 year-olds off to adulthood as mature, servant leaders—in their homes, in the Church, and in the world.
