Pastor Yves
Urukundo Village and Learning Center
Muhanga, Rwanda

Urukundo Village and Learning Center was established in 2008 to meet the physical, educational, and spiritual needs of children in Muhanga, the second largest city in the country of Rwanda. Over the years Urukundo (which means "love" in the local language) has expanded to meet needs of the entire community. In addition to the pre-school and primary school with over 1,000 students, Urukundo offers adult training at its Sewing Technical School, a fully equipped and professionally staffed Dental Clinic, a productive farm, clothing and supplies for mothers with newborn babies, and employment supporting over one hundred local families.

Urukundo Worship Center is church home to many in the community, with Sunday morning worship services and a full-time pastor, Pastor Yves, who leads worship, preaches, and serves communion each Sunday. Pastor Yves is actively involved in the lives of his congregation performing baptisms, weddings, and funerals, visits with the sick, and prayer and counseling, especially through the difficult times of isolation and loss of income during COVID lockdowns. Each evening he also has a devotional time with the children and live-in staff at Urukundo Village, and he is a counselor at the Urukundo mental health program, working with families of troubled children. Speaking both English and Kinyarwanda, he is a tremendous help and blessing to Urukundo and the entire community.

Hebron supports Pastor Yves through Hope Made Real, the U.S.-based nonprofit supporting Urukundo Village and Learning Center. Pastor Yves has asked us to also support him with our prayers.
