My husband Josh and I moved to Pittsburgh in August of 2019 with our daughter, Iva, for him to begin medical school at the University of Pittsburgh. I was pregnant with our second child, and we spent most Sundays that fall “church shopping.” We finally landed at Hebron Church - making the decision to attend on a regular basis the day before our son was born! Just a few weeks later, the pandemic hit and as you know, everything shut down. Thankfully, I had made a few connections at Hebron before COVID-19 was a thing…and fast forward to June, Kelly Knapp and Jess Sanders reached out and wanted to get together. Jess presented the question to me - would I be interested in helping start a new moms group at our church called “All Moms”? I was really surprised that I was being asked; but after talking it over with my husband, careful consideration, and prayer, I jumped in!
All Moms is a ministry at Hebron for any mom who has kids pregnancy through kindergarten. Our meetings are meant to encourage and uplift all during this uniquely difficult stage of motherhood. Each gathering looks a little different; but in general, we discuss topics relating to motherhood…we laugh, learn and lean on one another.
All Moms has meant so much to me these past two years; it gave my family a home at Hebron Church and really brought us into the community here. We have since become members of Hebron! I have met so many wonderful people at our church through my service to this ministry that I otherwise wouldn’t have had the opportunity to meet (yet!). Being new to the church and hardly knowing anyone, All Moms helped us feel connected to the people here and made us feel like we had been attending Hebron for years! All Moms has also given me practical Christian parenting advice that we attempt to implement with our children. I’ve received encouragement and support with parenting and life from our Mentor Moms which has helped me encourage and support other moms. I pray this ministry continues for many years and is able to help other moms feel as loved, encouraged and uplifted as I have. Motherhood is a wonderful gift designed by our Creator, and it’s to His glory that we grow in our knowledge of parenting which deepens our dependency on Him. Please pray for this ministry to reach many more moms of littles as we enter our third year this fall!
