Here Are Some Things You Might Be Missing...

All Moms Meet in the Barclay

The Grove ministry is up and running here at Hebron! Various groups are studying the Scriptures throughout the week, and there is plenty of opportunity for you to be involved. There are groups for women, men, and co-ed meeting in the mornings, evenings, and Sunday before and after our corporate worship together. Apologetics is a fancy word for knowing how to answer challenges to our faith—and we have a Grove studying that together as well as others studying the Old Testament book of Proverbs; New Testament studies on Acts, Galatians, Ephesians, and more; spiritual gifts, the image of God, the heart of Jesus, and more. There is room here for you, and a wonderful chance to grow deeper in your faith with other Christians.

All Moms, a new ministry here at Hebron, welcoming women inside and beyond our church community, has kicked off with 20+ women participating. Oriented toward mothers of young children (pregnancy to kindergarten), the ministry allows moms to get out and get together, connect with other women, discuss parenting in all its wonders, and hear of the work of the Gospel in their lives. This program is just getting off the ground, and it would be great if you’d add your prayers for the leaders and the women participating.

We are wrapping up a five-week Look Thru the Scriptureson the book of Job.  Job opens with a very odd-seeming interaction between Satan and God. What are we to make of Satan’s appearance and interaction with the Lord in chapter 1? And why does God allow these horrible things to happen to Job? Chapter 3 is a marvelous, though heart-wrenching, lament—can we/should we lament as believers? Both Job and his friends share a view of God that we might share as well: good guys get good things, bad guys don’t. But is that really the way the world works? God absolutely overwhelms Job in the closing chapters—but what is His point? And what is the point for us today? If you haven’t joined us yet, we will “Look Thru the Scriptures” together in the coming months!

 What’s upcoming, you ask?

Our fall sermon series, “Temptations: The World, The Flesh, and the Devil” wraps up this month. We begin a special Advent Sermon Series on November 29 with messages from Henry Knapp and Doug Rehberg on the hope, peace, love, and joy of the coming of the Savior. The Discipleship Team has been preparing an Advent Devotional that will be made available for all of us to use together throughout the Advent season.

Be watching for the kick-off of a long-term discipleship ministry; The Christian Discipleship Institute; various small group studies; a curriculum for new membership here at Hebron; and, possibly, a weekend event, a Faith and Life Seminar. Other opportunities are sure to come as well, so keep an eye out!

If you are already participating, GREAT! If you are not yet plugged in, give us a call. And, if you can’t be involved right now, please be praying for us.
