Clean-up Day Was a Great Success

by Jerry Zeilstra

The Trustees want to offer a very special thank you to all of those who helped make April 6, 2019 a special Clean-Up Day! One hundred of us gathered at 8:00 am for coffee and donuts; and then began to tackle 11 different projects throughout the church buildings and on our grounds for the next three and a half hours.

We washed over 8o windows. We scrubbed the baseboards. We put in over 80 window screens. We filled over 80 old cans of paint with cat litter so they could be discarded. We spread 21 yards of mulch. We cleaned up the flower beds and the tower garden. We removed trash along Frankstown Road, and we put in posts for our new signs.

We cleaned the sanctuary. We washed 200 chairs. We scrubbed two of our kitchens. We put in posts and rails for an 80-foot chain link fence. The fix-it team repaired ten different items in need of attention. The boiler room and table room were organized. We reorganized things stored in wrong places and moved them to their appropriate spot. After everyone finished and ready for a break, we ate a light lunch of Mom Zeilstra’s taverns (sloppy joes), chips, and brownies. Thanks to the lunch team for their help, too!
