Children's Ministry

by Ellen Dillard

Kidz and Parents are invited to Family Night Lights, Friday, October 6, from 6:30-8:00 pm. This is our first FNL of the school year! It is a night filled with fun and laughter for kidz and parents.

FNL is the place where kidz bring their parents to learn about Jesus. The night includes music, videos, comedy and live skits to talk about Jesus in relevant and engaging ways. We talk about God, faith and life applications. Life applications are things that God is doing inside of us to change the world around us.

Our October life application is Stewardship: Taking care of what you have because it all belongs to God.

There are games and dessert, too. Family Night Lights is one way Hebron Kidz partner with parents. The night cues K-5th grade parents in on what we are talking about on Sunday mornings at Small Groups and on Wednesdays at Kidz Club. Make plans to come and families are always encouraged to invite other families, too.

What Preschool Kidz are talking about in October

We know things are going to happen in our preschoolers’ lives where they will need God’s help –times when their lives will zig one way and then zag another. We want them to grow up believing that God loves them and can help them anywhere, with anything, no matter how hard it may be. He can even help them help others!

This month we will learn about the life of David and how, even when it zigged and zagged, God was there to help him.

What K-5th Graders are talking about in October

In Psalm 24:1 we read, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.” In other words, everything we have isn’t really ours. God created the entire world and it is our job to take care of what God has loaned us for a time in order to bring Him glory.

Jesus put stewardship into action. He used the time He had on earth wisely, never wasting a moment, but always working towards God’s plan. He used what He had – from bread and fish, to dirt and spit – to perform miracles, helping people see and eat. Everything Jesus did showed us how we can take care of God’s stuff by using it the way that points people to Jesus and fulfills the mission He has for our lives.

Memory Verse:  “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.” Luke 16:10a
