In 2003 a book was written that has had a profound influence on organizational development over the last decade. The Wisdom of Teams has been called the definitive work on how to create highly performing teams. The authors maintain that teams should be the basic unit of any organization that seeks to reach its full potential. They write, “Commitment to performance goals and common purpose is more important to team success than any other measure.”
Over the past few months the Session has reorganized itself into six teams that align well with Hebron’s purpose in growing people deeper, stronger, and beyond. Instead of continuing a committee model, we now have the following teams:
Discipleship: Seeks to develop growing, passionate, intentional disciples of Jesus Christ at all ages through every means available within the Body of Christ. (Chair– Greg Anderson, Co-Chair—Craig Knabe)
Connection: Seeks to connect people with the Lord and with one another in His body of believers at Hebron. (Chair—Amy Hehn, Co-Chair—Bud McCutcheon)
Mobilization: Seeks to take the mission of Hebron beyond its doors by engaging in new and existing missions and ministries in the East Hills communities, Pittsburgh, and throughout the nation and the world. (Chair—Janie Mason, Co-Chair—Bill Kear)
Stewardship: Seeks to create within the Body of Christ at Hebron a love and passion for living as faithful stewards of the resources God has graciously given to us. (Chair—Mike Tomashewski, Co-Chair—Richard Bishop)
Personnel: Seeks to ensure the proper administration and support of the human resources the Lord has entrusted to Hebron through its staff and leadership. (Chair—Geoff Gehring, Co-Chair—Rod Herrmann)
Vision: Seeks to promulgate and promote Session objectives in leading Hebron into the future by understanding the past, celebrating the present, and discerning the course God sets before us. (Chair—Keith Balkey, Co-chair—Marty Sidlo)
Over the coming months you will hear of many exciting ministry initiatives that will flow out of each team to be embraced by the congregation and carried out through the coming years. It’s exciting to see what the Lord has in store.
