PRISM

 By: Mission and Outreach Team

“When a stranger sojourns with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.”

Leviticus 19:33-34,EVS

When someone asks me what PRISM (Pittsburgh Region International Student Ministries) does, I think of God’s command to love the stranger among us. We are a campus ministry that cares for international students, scholars and their families.

My role as Programs and Women’s Ministry Coordinator is to work alongside PRISM staff and volunteers to welcome newly-arriving students, engage them in our programs and trips so we can build relationships with them, share the Gospel with unbelievers, disciple believers and support them in discipling others.

We embrace students with furnishings and housewares at our Garage Giveaway, Open House dinners, holiday hosting, Coffee Time and other outreach events where they can make social connections in a welcoming environment.

We engage students by offering appealing trips and programs such as English Conversation, Connections, and Bible studies where we can build relationships and introduce them to the Gospel of Christ.

We equip believers so they can grow and be disciple-makers through Bible study, mentoring, and Semlink (seminary course of study). For example, one of our Indian Christians is now attending seminary and is our new Hospitality House manager.

Ways you can get involved: Sign up to be a Connections Partner, host a student in your home for a holiday, be an English conversation volunteer, help with childcare at women’s Bible study or events, donate items or volunteer for the Garage Giveaway in August.
