2021 certainly has been a year of change for The Blessing Board. Both of the locations (Oakmont and Mckeesport) have moved to newer, cleaner, brighter and more efficient locations on Butler Street in the Shaler Plaza and Lebanon Road in West Mifflin. Even though the Oakmont move began as an unexpected need to relocate, God turned it into a major step forward for The Blessing Board with an expansion of the volunteer base, new funding sources, and families being served from the northern sections of Pittsburgh. Even with all of these changes, The Blessing Board was still able to serve 861 families with furnishings for their homes. The following is an example of a family who was recently served.
Kariann and Justin came to The Blessing Board through Action Housing. They had just come from being homeless for some time. To make their appointment, Justin and Kariann took two buses and then walked to The Blessing Board in 17 degree weather. They said they had no money for bus fare, and their bus drivers had been gracious to them and let them on the buses they needed to get here. They picked out furniture to furnish their new home and were very grateful. After they were done, their Action Housing caretaker gave them bus fare to get back home.
The Blessing Board genuinely thanks Hebron Church for all the prayer and financial support it has received over the years.
Here are some ways you can pray for The Blessing Board in the coming year:
· Pray that God empowers the Board of Directors with the wisdom to make clear and spirit-filled decisions on it's future.
· That in 2022 more families can be served with furnishings and hear the Gospel of Jesus and know His love through The Blessing Board.
· Pray for the staff and volunteers who make The Blessing Board run on a daily basis.
