For decades, Hebron Church has prayerfully and financially supported The Penn Hills Service Association. Many Hebron members faithfully volunteer there. Hebron member, Ed Hoover, directed PHSA from 1959 until recently. All goods and services are free to residents. Thanks to the generosity of the people of Penn Hills, they have one of the finest food pantries in the area with a generous assortment of food. Six freezers and a walk-in cooler allow them to offer meats, fish, and a variety of dairy products to Penn Hills residents. Canned fruits and vegetables, cereals, peanut butter, jelly, condiments, and consumable food preparation supplies are also readily available. Each family also receives a gift certificate to Shop ‘n Save to make food purchases. Families may call the hotline once a month to get an appointment to pick up food.
PHSA schedules families to come select used clothing twice a year, summer and winter. Hospital beds, wheelchairs, walkers, canes, portable toilets, and shower chairs are just some of the equipment available.
In His Word (Romans 12:13) God tells us to “contribute to the needs of the saints.” Through the work of the Mobilization Team, financial gifts to Hebron Church support the Lord’s work at the Penn Hills Service Association. PSHA always needs volunteers to pack food and intake, organize, and distribute clothing and medical equipment. If you can serve the Lord by meeting any of these needs, please call the director, Jack Giarusso, at 412-798-9449. And please pray for their work and the families they serve.
