Ed. Note: Scott Parsons sent the following letter to PitCare supporters on February 13. Scott has been a member of Hebron and guest preacher since 2016. We are including this letter in the Herald so that you can hear of Scott’s plans and the future plans for PitCare in his own words.
Dear Friends,
It was four years ago that I made the transition from Georgia to become the Executive Director of PitCare. Much has happened during those four years! PitCare has grown from a small grassroots ministry started by the Agates and Owens to become a thriving work that touches many aspects of community life in Pitcairn. We are currently working on two major projects. The Kim Parsons Library and Community Center is expected to open up early this fall, and we have begun preliminary work on starting our coffee shop. You have been a major part of this work through your gifts of time and money, and we are deeply appreciative for your support.
Our ministry isn’t the only thing that has changed. You are aware that my wife Kim passed away in 2017, leaving a huge hole in our ministry and in my life. Since that time, I have struggled to adapt to life and ministry without her and to discern God’s will for my life. It is with great joy that I share with you that I will soon be married to a longtime friend of mine, Terry Stevenson, who lives in Chattanooga. So, I will be moving my family to Chattanooga in late spring or early summer.
PitCare’s Board of Directors has worked out a plan which will provide for a seamless transition of leadership for the organization. At the end of May, I will transition from the position of Executive Director to PitCare’s Director of Advancement, with particular emphasis on the work of the library and community center. Much of this I will be able to do from Tennessee with regular trips back to Pitcairn. Jeff Owen will be appointed as Interim Executive Director, and Heather Luimes, who was hired in January, will become our Director of Operations. Heather is a gifted, creative woman whom God provided to us at exactly the right time. I am confident that this transition will be smooth and effective.
So, I strongly encourage you to continue your support for PitCare. I believe that God has used me here to help build a strong foundation for the ministry, but the work is just starting! Please continue to give generously and pray fervently that this transition will serve to increase the impact of the gospel in this community.
Blessings, Scott Parsons
