Join Us in Prayer

by Henry Knapp

After serving faithfully for 18 years, Marilyn Sable has retired from leading the prayer chain, as she and her husband, Jim, recently relocated to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We are all most grateful for Marilyn’s dedication in sharing our prayer requests with other faithful prayer warriors.

The prayer chain will be undergoing some changes over the next few weeks as Hebron’s staff assumes responsibility for it. A dedicated email account has been set up for prayer requests: prayer@hebrononline.org. Prayers will be gathered throughout the week and the list will be sent out from that email account on Thursday or Friday each week.

There is little doubt about the importance of prayer for the biblical Christian. Scripture details example after example of godly men and women who have poured out their hearts to God. The Psalms are some of the most beautiful passages in the Bible, and most of these are earnest prayers. Almost every letter from Paul contains one or more moving praises and pleas to our Lord.

Our prayer chain at Hebron is intended, in part, to help guide our prayers. Our hope is that a weekly list will both keep you informed of some of the needs of your brothers and sisters here, but will also prompt you to lift concerns and joys before our God. Prayers, even biblical prayers, do not have to be elaborate, well-spoken, or even clear—God hears and God knows!

It is our hope that by receiving this prayer update once a week, you will be informed and prompted to pray. But we also hope your email inbox will not be flooded! There may be times when the praise offered or the prayer request may seem out of date—fear not! Our God is sovereign even over time; prayers offered at any time will deepen our relationship with Him, and will call to mind our responsibilities for one another.

Please join us in prayer as we together seek God’s face and His blessings.
