Missions: St. James Fellowship

by Janie Mason

What a gift, what a joy to be part of God’s church and part of a congregation. What a blessing to worship and love the Lord together each week, to be in Groves or small groups and dig into God’s Word, and care for each other as we share our lives.

But, due to the incapacity of age or illness, times come when we, or ones we love, can no longer take part in church or other activities of life -- cannot leave home or must live in facilities we cannot leave. Have you known such a time of life?

Most facilities do not have chaplains on staff. Typically, clergy may do a service for the residents once a month. But is that enough spiritual care?

Hebron values the work of Rev. John Patterson and St. James Fellowship (SJF). John is Chaplain at eight care facilities in our area. He does regular services for the residents and family members and is often found sharing Scripture, prayer, Christian fellowship, and friendship with one or two in a quiet setting. John and Carol, his wife, take Jesus to the residents where they must be. What a gift! What a joy!
Hebron Mobilization supports the mission financially, Hebron members assist John in varied capacities, and SJF has been the focus of Hebron “gives, gathers, and serves.”

Please pray for John and Carol and the demanding ministry of St. James Fellowship. Visit the website at www.stjamesfellowship.org.
