Women's Ministry - Quiet Time

Quiet time. That ubiquitous, ‘Christian-ese’ term that means something different to everyone.  The most basic definition is spending time with God, but how that looks in real life is varied by personality and preference. Do you sit or kneel? Speak or listen? Read or write? Be still or go for a walk?

We are so different, ladies! God in His wisdom created us unique. He celebrates our differences. God doesn’t care about the routine, He cares about the relationship. He is more concerned with our being than our doing. I often will sit down wanting to BE in His presence, when all that I can think about is what I need to DO. How about you?

I find words of wisdom from others help me refocus my mind on Him. Here are some of my go to apps when my BEing needs some help.

YouVersion: This app is a life changer! The Bible at your fingertips in 49 versions. You can search by verse or word, highlight meaningful text, and play the audio version to have the Bible read to you. There’s a ton of devotionals to pick from with varying topics and duration. You can even listen to past and present Hebron sermons.

Girlfriends in God: This app provides 365 daily devotions for women by women. You can search by topic or read straight through. It allows you to highlight text and save devotions in a ‘favorites’ file.

Solid Joys: John Piper gives wisdom and inspiration in daily devotions taken from his sermons.  You can search topics in the archives, save favorites, and reference the original sermon for more information.
I pray that whatever they look like, your quiet times be where you feel God near and where you yearn to return to again and again for refreshment.
